STEM workshops, courses, and experiences for young people
Our excitingandinteractive sessions make developing technology and engineering skills a fun, hands-on experience.
STEM literacy is an enabler for school, further study, or future careers. And there’s some really cool hobbies too.
We explore everything from cyber security, artificial intelligence, and technology ethics, all the way to building and programming smart cities, and using numeracy and data skills to win at your favourite sports.
We help young people build confidence, think critically about technology, and feel inspired about the opportunities digital skills can create for their future.
Whether you’re working with younger pupils or preparing students for the workplace, we’ll have something to suit.
Covering all the bases
We cover all things digital: artificial intelligence, computer coding, cyber security, data science, engineering, maths and numeracy, and technology ethics.
Here’s a few of our most popular sessions to whet your appetite:
Artificial Intelligence
The Unbeliveably Creative AI Show A fun, one-hour show that gets audiences thinking critically – and creatively – about the future of AI, art, and human imagination.
Being Creative in the Classroom with AI Learn how to use AI tools without compromising on your own style, originality, or artistic integrity.
Computer coding
Code your own Tartan Can you use computer code to craft a new tartan design that tells your unique story?
Code a Data Selfie with JavaScript Use code to create a data-driven piece of digital art all about you!
Cracking 1 Million Passwords with Python Get hands on with Python, and use coding skills to get to the bottom of a data breach.
Cyber Security
How to rob a bank Step into the shoes of an ethical hacker. Can you break into Strathclyde Bank?
Using social media safely and securely We’ll tell you everything you need to know, and demo the techniques used by cyber criminals to break into people’s accounts.
Data Science
Defend the Rhino with AI Get hands-on with machine learning tools as we train an algorithm to detect poachers to save endangered rhinos.
Can you code an unbiased algorithm using Python? Explore, question, and understand how personal data is used to make important decisions, and see how that impacts people.
Engineering
Connected Communities – Build your own smart city Design your own mobile phone network and configure smart infrastructure using a micro:bit microcontroller.
Plug In The Numbers Create a proposal for a renewable energy system for YOUR school. You’ll need to work with energy usage data, satellite imagery, and earth observation data collected by NASA.
Maths and Numeracy
Numbers in the Fast Lane – From pit stops to data plots, let’s discover the maths and physics behind winning a Formula 1 Championship.
How to rig an election What does it take to win the support of the public? Let’s look at the maths, stats, and data behind disinformation, and learn how best to spot it.
The workshop Digital Skills Education developed had a great pace, used accessible language, bright dynamic props and screens and kept the room engaged the whole way through. I think it’s incredibly clever!

We come to you
Our team has worked with thousands of young people across the UK. We’ve delivered engaging sessions in
classrooms
events
youth groups
science centres
community spaces
and through our online live lessons.
Our courses are flexible. They can be delivered in-person, or online via Microsoft Teams or Zoom. We can run sessions in the morning, during lunch breaks, or on weekends – whichever works best for you.
We regularly deliver to large audiences, with online live lessons reaching thousands of pupils at once, as well as smaller, in-person workshops.
Our short courses can fit perfectly into a classroom period and can be adapted to fit your group.
This is really a fantastic piece of work! It is so engaging and an ingenious link between physical and cyber defence. I learned a lot ☺

Are you ready to make learning digital skills fun?
Get in touch! We’ve got a bank of lessons that we can run on-demand.
We also work with partners to develop fun resources that are industry relevant, and cover all the bases.
Need a sounding board for your own programmes? We offer consulting.
Could do with additional support? We provide end-to-end development and delivery of learning programmes.
“I particularly like how this dynamic team bring their years of experience and can transform some very big, complicated concepts into accessible resources and inclusive activities. I would highly recommend the Digital Skills Education team to schools and organisations who are looking to engage young people in digital literacy.”
