About this course
If you wanted to influence the result of an election – how could you use AI to help you?
In this interactive workshop, we look at how AI could be used to shape public opinion – not through hacking or fraud, but by creating content that spreads and subtly changes how people think.
You will:
- Learn how AI assisted influence actually works in modern elections, based on research by the Alan Turing Institute
- Explore the emotional triggers that make content spread and stick in your head
- Understand why even seeing something you know is fake can still affect how you think
- See how AI can amplify these effects at scale
You’ll take part in interactive activities where we:
- Anaylse AI-generated posts from recent elections to understand what they’re trying to make us think of feel
- Spot the emotional hooks behind viral posts
- Build a bot that can hijack news stories and influence public opinion
No technical knowledge is needed to take part. By learning how to spot AI generated content, you can help stop the spread of harmful online misinformation.
