We teamed up with Youthlink Scotland to run an engaging two hour course introducing youth workers to the most popular Artificial Intelligence apps and tools.
About the course
Twenty five youth workers from across central Scotland learned about “Generative AI” – apps that can be used to create (or generate) text, images, and even music.
We helped them get hands-on with these tools. We showed them how the AI app ChatGPT can be used as part of a creative writing activity. Next we used an image generating AI app called DALL-E to produce self portraits.
It was great yesterday, super useful and I found it really thought-provoking!

This practical training was a fantastic opportunity to gain an understanding of what generative AI is capable of, and how it can be used with young people in a safe and responsible way. They learned what these tools were being used for, how youth workers could benefit from using them, and also discussed some of their limitations.
Kirstie and Daniel worked with youth workers using an AI tool to create a unique “self portrait”.
At the end of the course, everyone shared their reflections on using these interesting tools and how it made us feel using them. Participants shared their own ideas for how they could incorporate generative AI into their work with young people.
