Web Industry in the Classroom

Web Industry in the Classroom

An industry volunteer teaching in a classroom

We partnered with Skills Development Scotland to produce learning resources for industry experts to use when working with schools.

Learners will team up with industry experts to learn modern web development skills in the classroom. Through a series of practical activities, learners will analyse, design, and implement a website for their client: sports fashion brand Yaldi Athletic.

Learners will:

– Analyse the client brief to identify the end-user and functional requirements of a website

– Use prototyping tools to create a design that meets the needs of the client

– Use modern web technologies (HTML/CSS/JS) to implement their digital solution

– Test their solution to show it meets the needs of their client and is fit for purpose.

The activities get learners hands-on with modern development tools and techniques. Industry experts will work alongside experienced classroom teachers to deliver an engaging and interactive learning experience. These activities will allow industry technologists to share their skills and work experiences with Scotland’s next generation of computer science specialists.

The resources are aimed at supporting teachers and learners working towards the SQA National 5 qualification in Computing Science.
